What Is Cold Application Technology?

By Capricia Alston

If you’re a skincare lover, then you’re probably already well-acquainted with Cold Application Technology. For those of you wondering why we’re even bringing up this cool (pun intended) but foreign concept — don’t worry, because we’re about to break down how it benefits both straight and curly strands. But first, let’s talk about frizz.

Why Does Frizz Happen?

Frizz is a result of damage, dryness, or humidity. If we’re talking science, frizz is the effect of different individual hair fibers going in multiple directions. Frizzy hair happens when the cuticle layer of your hair is raised, allowing moisture to pass through and swell the strands.

So how do you avoid frizzy hair? We’ve got just the solution. Meet our Avocado & Tamanu Anti-Frizz Collection, the first line from Mielle® specifically formulated to target frizz. Avocado oil helps smooth and seal your hair’s cuticles, while tamanu oil deeply nourishes the scalp and is known for its healing properties. The ingredient blend and cold application approach both play a large role in reducing frizz when the collection is used together as a system.

Avocado and Tamanu based all hair products to control anti frizz and gives best result when applied cold.

How Does Cold Application Technology Work?

For the longest time, the power of cool in haircare has been relegated to the cool rinse at the hair salon, or the cold shot button on your blow dryer — which, by the way, is an underestimated feature that helps to smooth down the hair’s cuticles to create maximum shine and help your style last longer.

What makes our 4-step Avocado & Tamanu system even more unique is that three of the products are formulated with our proprietary refrigerate-to-activate Cold Application Technology. Whether your hair is curly or straight, this technology uses a “cold on contact” approach to help close your hair’s cuticles in place and block out humidity. The result is frizz-free, long-lasting, smooth strands.

How Do I Use the Product?

Before doing anything else, you should first refrigerate our Avocado & Tamanu Anti-Frizz stylers  for at least an hour before use in order to amplify the anti-frizz protection. Remember, the cold temperature activates on contact, which means it will naturally close and seal your hair’s cuticles. After refrigerating, it’s taming time — just don’t forget to shake products before use. !

Gently cleanse your hair with the sulfate-free Anti-Frizz Shampoo. Then follow up with the Conditioner, rinsing in cool water for 5 seconds to seal the cuticles. After rinsing out the Conditioner, spray the Anti-Frizz Slip & Seal Leave-In Conditioner on damp hair and section hair while gently detangling with a wide tooth comb. Do this from ends to root for even distribution. Do not rinse out the product. Afterward, choose your preferred style system. Use the Curl Perfector if you want a cute, curly style — or use the Stay Straight Serum for a sleek, straight style.

Which Mielle Products Have Cold Application Technology?

Mielle’s Avocado & Tamanu Leave-In, Curl Perfector, and Stay Straight Serum all harness the power of cool in unique and innovative formulas that activate once they’re refrigerated. In order to achieve the optimal results, we not only recommend that you chill these products for at least one hour minimum before applying, but we also recommend that you use the entire collection as a system, since all of the products are formulated to enhance the other. With that said, you can still use the entire Anti-Frizz line without refrigerating. Just make sure that you never freeze any of the products.

How Many Products Are in the Collection?

Our 4-step system includes five products, giving you the power to decide between a straight or curly style.
