Planning a Better You | Black business Spotlight

This week, we are celebrating an amazing Black business called “Planning A Better You.”

Meet Khadija Romney, owner of Planning A Better You.  Khadija is an author and former educator. She taught school in Miami, New York, and Central Florida. Before her career as an educator, Ms. Romney worked for several years in the customer service industry.

After giving birth to her son and being a single mom, she struggled to secure stable child care services.  She prayed for answers, but to no avail. She finally had to tell her principal that she could not return to work. Devastated and depressed, she was confused about which direction to take. That is when she started to remember what skills she possessed both from her teaching career and her former work as a customer service specialist, and from this combined knowledge, she conceived the idea to create Planning A Better You.

She began by conducting workshops teaching sole proprietors soft skills, developmental tools, customer service strategies, and conflict resolution. Soon after that, corporations started calling her to train and develop their staff.

Also included in her workshops are digital marketing, website creation, social media branding, digital design, printed material and graphics, professional photos, and product development.

Kadija understands the importance of developing a strong business mindset, especially for small business owners, and passes this knowledge on to others in her seminars and workshops.

The cost of a workshop is very economical, at only $47.00 per month. There is a 90-day commitment for attendance.

So here we go – you knew it was coming – drum roll, please! Mielle Organics donated $1,000 to Planning A Better You. But that’s not all. Mielle also chose three people to receive a free 90-day workshop with Kadijah. After the workshop giveaway, Kadijah was gracious enough to offer seven people a free copy of her book entitled “Becoming A Better You” which offers tips and strategies on becoming the best version of yourself.

Kadija shared that “the mission of Planning A Better You is to help people become their best selves in the service industry and digital space. Our goal is to help these individuals reach their highest level of potential, develop and strengthen their soft skills, and master effective communication while developing overall customer service to the industry they serve. Our hope is that at the end of each training, the employees have gained the tools necessary to be an asset to their employer and to the people they come in contact with in the future.”
