4 Ways To Use MIELLE's Mint Almond Oil

By: Jonna Scott Blakes

Our Mint Almond Oil is not only a Mielle Organics fan favorite, but it is also a award-winning hair oil. NaturallyCurly.com recognized it as a Best of the Best winner and Editor’s Choice in 2017. Why is our oil so amazing? Let’s start with the ingredients. It’s pretty simple: soybean oil, almond oil, and peppermint essential oil. That’s it! This all natural lightweight Mint Almond Oil helps reduce breakage, excessive shedding and dry scalp.

Now that you know why you need some Mint Almond Oil, you might be wondering ‘exactly what do I use it for?’ No worries - here are a few ways you can add this oil to your hair care routine.

Use as a hot oil treatment. Our almond oil is perfect for a hot oil treatment. Put the oil in a heat safe plastic bottle or glass container, and place the container in a pot of hot water for a few minutes. Apply the warm oil to your scalp and hair - root to tip. Massage oil into your scalp and cover hair with a plastic cap. Dip towel in hot water, ring out the excess water, and wrap the warm towel around your head. Allow the oil to sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes and then rinse the oil out of your hair. Follow with your normal wash day routine.

Stimulate the scalp. Massaging our Mint Almond Oil into your scalp has so many benefits for healthy scalp. Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, and it soothes itchy scalp. It helps to absorb excess oils on the scalp and stimulates blood flow to the scalp which promotes hair growth.

Add to deep conditioner.Textured hair tends to loose moisture, so oils can help improve water retention in the hair. Adding a little of our Mint Almond Oil to your deep conditioner not only increases slip, and improves manageability, but it also adds shine to the hair and helps retain moisture.

Smooth strands during styling.Rub a nickle-sized amount of oil to your hair before wrapping, twisting or pin curling it at night, or before releasing twists, braids, or roller sets. The oil will coat the cuticle and take away fly aways to give your hair a sleek look without weighing your hair down. It also adds sheen to the hair and an amazing scent!

These are 4 of our favorite ways to use the Mielle Mint Almond Oil. We encourage you to try them out and add them to your healthy hair care routine. Do you have more ways that you use our Mint Almond Oil? Let us know!

In the natural hair world, we talk so much about moisture, moisture, and more MOISTURE! Why? Because highly textured hair, in general, struggles with keeping moisture locked in. Due to its shape, the natural sebum (oil) from the scalp has a tough time traveling the whole length of our strands.

Access your hair’s needs. Our hair needs both moisture and protein to thrive. While adding moisture is always key, adding protein when your hair is healthy, low porosity, and free of chemical processing can do more harm than good.  When excess protein coats the hair strand and hardens, it can cause the hair to break. It can also block moisture from penetrating the hair follicle as well.

One of the most critical parts of a healthy hair regimen is deep conditioning. Deep conditioning helps improve and maintain the moisture-protein balance of our hair, which helps improve elasticity. Elasticity helps avoid breakage since the hair is more flexible.
